Orange Shirt Day Event 2026

Tuesday, September 29, 2026
4:30pm-6:30pm
2131 Renfrew St. Vancouver

Frog Hollow Neighbourhood House invites community members of all ages to join us for an afternoon of storytelling, learning, reflection and gathering in recognition of Orange Shirt Day.

The event will begin with a territorial welcome from Calvin C. Dawson of Squamish Nation, followed by opportunities to learn, participate and reflect together throughout the afternoon.

Activities and experiences will include:

  • Drumming with Elder Kelly White
  • Smudging and community care
  • Every Child Matters rock painting
  • Storytelling about Frog Hollow’s decolonizing initiatives and ongoing learning
  • Interactive learning and reflection stations
  • Soup and bannock, available first come, first served

We will also have Lexèywa: I pass the torch to you, by Beatrice Elaine Silver available for purchase at the event, including Chinese-translated editions. Learn more about the books here>>

This gathering is an opportunity for us to reflect on the meaning of Orange Shirt Day, continue learning about the impacts of residential schools and colonialism, and consider how we can carry this learning forward in our relationships, our organization and our community.

There is no cost to attend and no registration is required. We invite you to come as you are, take part in the activities that feel meaningful to you, and spend the afternoon learning and reflecting with community.
