Dear Families and Friends,

We’re excited to launch a Donation Drive to support essential HVAC system upgrades at Frog Hollow Children’s Centres. These upgrades are vital to ensuring safe, comfortable, and climate-resilient environments for the children and educators in our care.

We’re asking all Frog Hollow families and supporters to consider donating — any amount makes a difference!

Online Donations: Visit www.froghollow.bc.ca/donate

Please note “Children’s Centres HVAC systems” in your donation.

Offline Donations: Email jasmine@froghollow.bc.ca to arrange a cheque or cash drop-off.

Tax Receipts: Available for donations over $25.

If we exceed our goal, extra funds will go toward shade-producing equipment at our Village and Satellite Daycare sites, another step toward creating safe, nurturing spaces for our children.

OUR GOAL: $80,000 CAD

Supporting HVAC System Upgrades at Our Main Site & The Village @ Lord Nelson

THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!

Please share this campaign with your networks! Together, we can make a lasting impact.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Anna & the Frog Hollow Neighbourhood House Children’s Centres Team

FACTS

HVAC SYSTEM INSTALLATION AT OUR FROG HOLLOW MAIN SITE’S PRESCHOOL AND KIDS WORLD SCHOOL AGE PROGRAMS:

Frog Hollow Main Site houses 111 spaces for children 3–12 years old, including our Nootka children who attend during the winter, spring, and summer breaks.

Cost Breakdown: $55,000

Grants Received: Two totaling $35,000; remainder $20,000 was covered by Frog Hollow NH’s Child Care Reserve Funds.

Timeline: This work was completed in December 2023, and because it was at our Frog Hollow Main site, we were solely in charge of leading the work, which made things happen a lot quicker.

HVAC SYSTEM INSTALLATION AT THE VILLAGE @ LORD NELSON:

The Village @ Lord Nelson houses 93 children ages 0–12.

Cost Breakdown: Estimated at $130,900 —

$105,000 for system, $14,000 for consulting engineering firm, drawings, and permits, $11,900 contingency costs.

We have applied for one larger grant and will find out by the end of November if it is approved. We are hoping for at least half the cost to be approved: $65,450. We hope to get donations for the other half, and anything above, Frog Hollow would step in and use reserve funds.

We want the installation to have the least impact on families and therefore will have to look at some of the work being done evenings and weekends. We are on-site on school grounds, which means a higher cost for work to be done during these off-hours.

Timeline: This project has been a work in progress since June 2023. We lease this space with the City of Vancouver, and they sublease it to the Vancouver School Board. We have been meeting as a group for the last while, and we are finally at a place where the next step is to solidify when the work will be done with spring as the target completion time. Once confirmed, we will let the families know the details of the plan.
