We understand that settling in a new place and making it home for you and your family is a challenging and long process. No matter where you are from or how long it has been since you arrived in Canada, we welcome all newcomers to access support services and community involvement opportunities here at Frog Hollow. Our programs are designed to help you successfully navigate the stages towards citizenship and further on, for your longterm wellbeing and participation in society.

WOW-Working Opportunities for Women

Who| Newcomer women who are Permanent Residents, Convention Refugees or Protect Persons. Language capacity at least LINC 5.

Time| Every Monday to Thursday, 930am to 230pm

Working Opportunities for Women (WOW) is an Employment Readiness Program that provides newcomer women with training to pursue a career in child care.

Eligibility: Permanent resident, Convention Refugee or a Protected Person. Language capacity at least LINC 5.

Program participants also receive:

  • Practicum placement with Frog Hollow’s Reggio-inspired Childcare Program
  • Opportunity for paid employment upon program completion
  • Bus tickets
  • Child minding

Program benefits:

Responsible Adult (required to work in child care). Topics include: child development, dealing with challenging behavior and licensing regulations.

Improve English language skills. Topics include: Canadian workplace communication, child care vocabulary and adapting to Canadian workplace culture.

Prepare for work in Canada. Topics include job search, resume and cover letter writing and interview preparation.
