FOOD SECURITY PROGRAM

Our food philosophy is driven by values on Environmental Sustainability: we acknowledge our responsibility as a community leader to increase our awareness and expertise in the field of environmental sustainability locally and globally; we strive to incorporate practices that minimize our environmental footprint; we provide and facilitate leadership to the community in the journey towards a sustainable relationship with the environment.

Harvest Festival

Harvest Festival is our annual event to celebrate the harvest, showcase gardening, display and exchange vegetables in the Frog Hollow neighbourhood.

On the event day, we also have live band music, puppet show performance and information booths from local food network organizations. It’s a joyful outdoor get-together for families, seniors and neighbours of all ages and all backgrounds. It’s also an opportunity for the community to learn more about gardening, food security and environmental sustainability.

Our grand finale of the summer, 2023 Harvest Festival, was an absolute blast!

It was a truly magical day spent with our wonderful community, and we can’t express enough gratitude for everyone who joined us and made it a memorable morning. Together, we celebrated the abundance of the harvest, the warmth of friendship, and the strength of our community bonds.

This event is all about fostering connections, forging new relationships, and discovering the beauty of togetherness. Even now, we find ourselves mesmerized by the enchanting moments we shared on that beautiful day.

We owe a massive shout-out to our incredible team of volunteers and staff who worked tirelessly to ensure that our setup and take down happened in the blink of an eye. With 28 volunteers and more than 20 staff, their dedication and hard work made this event possible.

We also want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our community partners for their unwavering support. Without your presence, none of this would have been possible.
